Work Migration Germany Wants to Attract More Nurses From Brazil
In order to make it possible for more nurses to reach the country for work purposes, Germany’s Federal Employment Minister, Hubertus Heil, as well as Federal Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, will travel to Brazil next month to reach an agreement with the latter’s authorities, AtoZSerwisPlus.de reports.
Once the agreement is concluded, it is expected for a larger number of nurses from Brazil to be able to enter Germany, though the authorities have not revealed any figures yet.
“The German government wants to attract more nurses from countries with strong workforce potential. To this end, Federal Employment Minister Hubertus Heil and Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will travel to Brazil in June to conclude the necessary agreement,” the statement of Germany’s official information webpage reads.
Germany has already reached an agreement on the recruitment of nurses with Mexico and Indonesia. Moreover, earlier in February of this year, Minister Heil travelled to Ghana, where he discussed recruitment possibilities for citizens of this country too.
Revealing the country’s plans, Heil said in an interview that Germany is working with different businesses to implement recruitment strategies in countries that have more well-educated youth.
Heil further stressed that the country “will go about this very sensitively so as not to take workers away from any country which needs them itself.”
Germany has been trying to recruit nurses as well as other highly skilled workers from abroad for several years now.
The government hopes that the Skilled Workers Migration Act will attract more people to Germany, and the country has already announced some changes it plans to make to the Act.
The first change that Germany intends to make in a bid to boost the immigration of qualified workers from abroad is to make the Blue Card more accessible for a wider range of specialists who hold a university degree.
Second, the government of Germany wants to allow nationals of third countries to work in Germany in their expertise field without being required to go through the formal recognition procedures of their professional qualification and degree.
As for foreigners who want their qualifications to be recognised once they are in Germany, the government is intending to make it possible for them to initiate the process after their arrival.
Lastly, the government also wants to permit foreigners to enter the country for the purpose of findings a job. This means that Germany wants to let foreigners who have not found a job move first and then find a workplace.
