Number of Passengers Travelling Through Frankfurt Airport Reached 4.3 Million in March 2023

According to airport figures, during the first three months of this year, FRA passenger traffic increased by 56.0 per cent year-on-year to about 11.4 million passengers, while remaining 23.3 per cent below the pre-pandemic level.
As for cargo traffic in Frankfurt, it continued to decrease by 7.1 per cent year-on-year in March 2023. However, there was an increase in aircraft movements by 19.2 per cent year-on-year to 32,125 takeoffs and landings. At the same time, maximum accumulated takeoff weights (MTOWs) also expanded by 15.8 per cent year-over-year to about two million metric tons.
Among the airports in the Fraport Group that had the largest growth during March of this year are Ljubljana Airport (LJU) in Slovenia, which served 78,581 passengers with an increase of 54.3 per cent year-on-year.
The other two airports that also grew during this period are the Brazilian ones of Fraport, Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA), with a combined traffic increase of one million passengers and an increase of 7.4 per cent.
The increase was also noticed at the Lima airport (LIM) in Peru, which registered about 1.6 million passengers, thus marking an increase of 16.8 per cent.
Airport data also shows that overall passenger traffic at the 14 Greek regional airports increased to 731,014 passengers, an increase of 33.4 per cent. In addition, Fraport’s Twin Star Airports serving the Bulgarian coastal cities of Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) reported a traffic increase of 87.9 per cent year-on-year reaching 103,316 passengers overall.
In March 2023, there was also an increase in passenger traffic at Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, up to one million passengers, with an increase of 23.3 per cent from year to year.
