Lufthansa Group Airlines Set to Resume Tel Aviv Flights From January 8, 2024
Through a statement, Lufthansa Group has declared that it will initially offer four weeks departures from Tel Aviv to the German city of Frankfurt and three weekly flights to Munich, AtoZSerwisPlus.de reports.
In addition, the company announced that Austrian Airlines is planning eight weekly connections to Vienna, while SWISS will offer five weekly flights departing from Tel Aviv to Zurich.
The company has considered that this flight schedule offers good transfer connections from Israel to North America and back through the Lufthansa Group hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and Vienna.
The flight schedule was published on December 18, and flights can be booked from that date onward.
Due to the Israel-Hamas war, Lufthansa Group announced that it would not operate flights to and from Tel Aviv until November 30 at the earliest. However, such a measure was extended following the situation in the Middle East.
According to a report from CNN, two days before the attack, on October 5, a total of 63 airlines were serving Tel Aviv with 256 flights to the airport. Israel’s flag carrier, El Al, accounted for nearly 26 per cent of those flights, while Lufthansa had five flights a day to Tel Aviv back then, or two per cent of the total.
However, unlike Lufthansa Group, United States Airlines Delta recently announced that it would cancel additional flights between the US and Tel Aviv as a result of the current situation.
Besides, Delta announced that flights between Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will be cancelled until March 29 2024.
Through a statement, Delta announced that sales of these flights are suspended.
Due to the situation in the Middle East, the European Union’s Home Affairs Commissioner, Ylva Johannson, warned that Europe might expect a huge risk of terrorist attacks during Christmas Holidays as the war between Israel and Hamas continues.
As a result of the Israel-Hamas war, several European governments reintroduced temporary border controls.
