Germany to Remove Obstacles to Immigration of Skilled Workers Soon
According to the Federal Government of Germany, as soon as the Skilled Immigration Act enters into force, bureaucratic hurdles will be removed, and skilled workers will be able to live and work in Germany without having to follow as many rules as before, AtoZSerwisPlus.de reports.
Commenting on the country’s plans to ease the rules for skilled workers, the Minister of Interior, Nancy Faeser, said that they want to make it easier for them to reach Germany for work purposes.
The same stressed that they want to attract as many skilled workers as possible as the country is currently dealing with labour shortages in different sectors.
“We want skilled workers to be able to come to Germany quickly and get off to a flying start. We want to remove bureaucratic hurdles. If people bring work experience or personal potential, we will enable them to gain a foothold in our job market,” the statement of Faeser reads.
In line with the Skilled Immigration Act, skilled workers will be able to enter Germant through three routes.
The first route, which is linked with one’s qualifications, will permit IT specialists who are particularly in demand in Germany to come to the country with the EU blue card and have their qualifications recognised.
As the authorities have explained, this group of specialists will have their professional experience shortened and the German language requirement waived.
The second route is through experience. According to the German authorities, all foreigners who have at least two years of professional experience, as well as a professional qualification acquired and recognised abroad, will be able to enter Germany as specialists in the future.
“The degree no longer has to be recognised in Germany beforehand. That means less bureaucracy and, therefore, shorter procedures,” the government emphasises.
The third route is through potential. Germany will introduce a so-called Opportunity Card. This card will allow foreigners to enter Germany and remain in the country for up to one year with the purpose of finding employment.
In addition to the above-mentioned, Germany also plans to ease the rules for asylum seekers trying to find employment.
According to the authorities, asylum seekers who have entered Germany before March 29 of this year and who have the required qualifications will have the chance to withdraw their asylum application and apply for a work and residence permit.
Previously, AtoZSerwisPlus.de reported that facilitated rules for foreign skilled workers had helped Germant with its labour shortage.
According to recent research from the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, immigration to Germany started to increase significantly in the second half of 2021, and since then, hundreds of foreigners have reached the country for work purposes.
