Berlin Brandenburg Airport Becomes First German Airport to Implement Digital Turnaround Solution
This strategic move underscores the airport’s ongoing dedication to investing in modern technologies, ultimately elevating service quality, punctuality, and efficiency levels, AtoZSerwisPlus.de reports.
According to a press release from the airport, while BER’s latest digital products were originally aimed at terminal operations, the current focus has shifted towards the airport’s 49 apron positions adjacent to the terminal.
In cooperation with Assaia, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, the airport is in the process of implementing a comprehensive system known as the TurnaroundControl digital solution.
At the same time, this innovative solution will enable the analysis of platform handling processes using self-learning software, providing actionable recommendations. This strategic move aims to optimize aircraft-related workflows, ultimately leading to increased flight schedule stability and improved punctuality. The gradual release of this product is expected to take place over the next few months.
He also expressed anticipation regarding the software’s machine learning capabilities, anticipating valuable insights that will drive further advancements in airport operations processes.
Moreover, CEO Assaia Max Diez expressed his pleasure for the cooperation with Berlin Brandenburg Airport and to be part of the airport’s mission to provide the best possible passenger experience at BER.
As for TurnaroundControl Software, it improves airport operations by providing real-time transparency into handling processes. It uses cameras positioned at platform locations and AI-based software to provide recommendations for optimising treatment procedures.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport has recently introduced a new digital service for biometric access control, simplifying the process for travellers as they pass through security checks.
The new digital service allows travellers to access specific airport processes using biometric facial recognition, eliminating the need to present any physical documents. As a result, Airlines such as Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings Senators and members of the HON circle can benefit from the new services available at the airport.
